Reid Johnson

Chairman of the Board

Reid Johnson's media career began in the early 1970's. At WCCO-Television, the CBS affiliate in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Reid served as a writer, producer, and executive producer. In 1981, he was named News Director, a position he held until 1989. During Reid's tenure the station's news department won every major award for broadcast journalism, including twice winning the Edward R. Murrow award as top news department in the country.

In 1989, Reid purchased Alpha Video, an audio/video equipment dealership. Reid and his partner George Johnson (no relation), repositioned the company to become the leading digital dealership in the Upper Midwest. With the advent of the world wide web in the mid 1990's, Reid formed a division of Alpha Video, Internet Broadcasting (IB), that developed a CMS and suite of services that allowed television stations to "put themselves on the web."

IB was incorporated in 1997. As Founder and CEO of IB, Reid grew IB into the largest network of television station sites in the U.S. Investors and station partners included Hearst, Washington Post, McGraw Hill, CNN, Meredith, Cox, and NBC. Reid retired in 2008.

Reid invested in Godengo in 2009 and served as a Board Member until assuming Chairmanship in June 2011. Godengo's management team all worked with Reid during his tenure at Internet Broadcasting.
